Doc
I've decided to make most of my LJ 'Friends Only'.

Public is only my writing (you can find the links to the entries in my memories under 'my fanfiction' and 'my fiction'), some memes and a few other things.

I have my reasons for this.

OK, Sky wrote sometime ago an awesome drabble for me and I offered to do the same for her as soon as my tests at university are over. Tataaa, they are over for a month now and I'm extending the offer to all of you.

You know the drill...

Comment with a pairing, an idea, a word, a character, whatever crosses your mind. From any fandom you want. If I know it I'll write it. If not, I'll let you know. :D

Not, that you aren't doing it from time to time, but seriously... That new feature "My Guests"? I can see there so much bad potential, I don't even know where to start.

I think, what ticks me off most, is how many people find it cool. But I can not help and see it as a prove of how much observation is accepted in society these days. Which is not a good thing!
5th-Mar-2009 09:41 pm - English Question
Doc
So J. and I were talking about languages in general and ended up with a question concerning English. Perhaps the native speakers on my f-list can help to clear it up for us. And of course everybody else can voice his or her opinion, too. Matter of fact I love discussions about such topics.

So here comes the problem:

1. "Is this your book?"

2. "This is your book, isn't it?"

You see, I learned in school that there is a difference between those two questions. 1. means, that you want to know if the book belongs to the person you are talking to. But if you use 2, you assume that the book belongs to that person, but you want to make sure. Number 1 does not contain such an assumption.

Now J. learned that there isn't any difference between those two questions and that in fact, if you ask a person if xy belongs to them, you are always using 2.

Any thoughts on that?
